How the conversion works
- Each binary digit is a power of 2, starting at 1 on the right. 11111111 is 255. 1010 is 10.
- Hex uses 0 to 9 and then A to F. A is 10 and F is 15. 255 is FF. 1000 is 3E8.
- 1000 in decimal is 1111101000 in binary.
- The largest value is 18446744073709551615. That is 64 ones in binary and FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF in hex.
- A comma in the decimal field is a thousands separator, so 1,000 is 1000. Spaces in binary are ignored.
This converts whole numbers. It does not turn a word into bits. Zero is 0 in every base.
