Free percentage calculator
Work out a percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, and the change from one number to another. The numbers stay in your browser.
How each result is calculated
- A percent of a number is the percent divided by 100, then multiplied by the number. 15% of 80 is 12.
- What percent one number is of another is the part divided by the whole, then multiplied by 100. 20 is 25% of 80. The whole cannot be 0.
- Change is the new number minus the starting number, divided by the starting number, then multiplied by 100. From 80 to 100 is an increase of 25%. From 100 to 80 is a decrease of 20%. The starting number cannot be 0.
- A comma is treated as a thousands separator, so 1,000 is 1000. The decimal mark is a point. A result that is not a short decimal is shown to 4 decimal places.
These are arithmetic results. They are not a price, a tax, or a forecast. Two people who type the same numbers see the same results.
